Full-Day Rainbow Mountain

CUSCO, CUSIPATA, VININCUNCA (RAINBOW MOUNTAIN)

Our trip begins at 4:00 a.m. with our guide, who will pick us up from our hotel and drive us to Cusipata, which is about an hour and 30 minutes south of Cusco more or less, where we will be treated to a fantastic breakfast. We may also take advantage of the chance to buy last-minute purchases like gloves, caps, chocolates, and sweets, all of which are required for our excursion.

After breakfast, we will be taken for about an hour to the starting point for the climb to the Colored Mountain, Phulawasipata (4600 masl). Before we begin the hike, our guide will provide us with some tips. During the two-hour (3-kilometer) climb, we will be able to see stunning views such as massive mountains, glaciers, and colorful valleys populated by llamas and alpacas. We will also interact with the residents of the areas to learn about their lifestyle and culture.

Around 10:00 a.m., we will arrive at the majestic Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca (5036 masl), where we will take a 15-minute break while our guide gives us an explanation of the area and we can enjoy the breathtaking views around us. We will also have the opportunity to see the highest mountain in Cusco, Ausangate (6380 masl), from a close distance.

After that, we will have around 45 minutes to explore on our own and take as many shots as we wish of the magnificent Rainbow Mountain.

After touring the Colored Mountain, we will descend for approximately 1.5 hours (Phulawasipata), where our mobility awaits us. After arriving at the parking lot, we will return to Cusipata for approximately an hour to eat a lovely lunch.

After lunch, we will travel to Cusco for 2 hours, arriving at Plaza de Armas of Cusco at 16:00 pm or few minutes after to your accommodation or hotel.

  • All of our tour guides are from the university and at the same time, they speak really good English. however the most important is that all our tour guides are local people that grew up in the Andes with much ancient knowledge ready to teach you any ancestors tradition but at the same time, they are funny and so professionals making sure safe and happy.

Permits

  • After we just receive your deposit and information about you. our staff is in charge to get your permits for the Rainbow Mountain Entrance Fee. this permits are for a specific date and your name have to be the same as your passport details.

Transportation

  • Transportations for all the trek is included from the beginning to the end with cars and train (we´ll pick you up from your hotel and take you back in your hotel ¨our service is door to door).

Equipment

  • Sparrow adventure has the best equipment that you need for your trek in order to take you safe and happy enjoying at the same time.

Food

  • Our healthy and organic food is gonna be prepared by our chef that have a lot of experience cooking in the mountain and at the same time you have the chance to tell us if you don´t eat some allergies in that way our chef will cook without that things.

Water

  • Remember that this is a very important element for the Hike in order to breathe great and at the same time remember to drink plenty of water for your hike. However, you must bring enough water these days.

  • Your safety (healthy, safe, satisfy and enjoying) is one of our first priorities. in that way, this first aid kit that we have is complete with basic things that you can need for the trek and oxygen tank just in order to take you safely.

Daypacks

  • You should need to bring your own day pack for the hike although it doesn’t have to be so big as a personal experience we suggest to get small o medium day pack but not so big in order to enjoy on the way because remember that our porter are gonna helping you part of your weight. the backpack that you´ll bring has to be with enough space for your: water, sun cream, sun hat, few warm layers, camera, personal snack, headlamps and few more things that you can consider important for your trek.

Headlamps

  • With our experience in the mountain we recommend to have your personal headlamps for the trek because if you need to move from one place to another one or go to the toilet for sure you´ll need one. remember that these campsites are places with lights.

Packing list

  • We suggest you bring for the hike warm layers for the nights, three t-shirts, hiking pants, the jacket is basically the things that you´ll need and if is waterproof or rainwater resistant could be much better. anyway with your rain poncho is gonna be fine. because it covers you until your knees. however you can´t forget to bring hiking boots or trekking shoes and sandals or sneaker.

Extra Snack and Things

  • You can bring your own snacks for the hike and toilet paper because it doesn’t have in the restroom.

  • Each hiker needs basically a sleeping bag and is optional the inflatable air matt and walking stick for good trek but if you don´t have any of those things, no worries because you still have the chance to rent with us really good equipment.
